Disaster!

The scoundrel! He’s completely halted work on my new ship, and skipped out of town! Something about wanting to become a troubador. He left a note. A note! He didn’t even have the guts to face me, the slime!!

I’m so angry I could eat my beard.

It’s settled. I’m a pirate, am I not?

He must die. I’ll follow him to his little troubador school, sack the place and hang him from the mizzen. Maybe even make a little profit in the meantime.

June the 9th, 1215 A.D.

I’ve been ‘evicted’ from the tavern, but things are looking up. I’ve conned a shipbuilder into starting work on my new vessel. Joke’s on him; my credit’s shot! Sadly, however, he works very slowly, and after two months still insists that the design is not yet complete. I ought to pay him a visit; perchance he may grant me the use of his shower whilst I’m in the area. I’ve been forced to sleep under a fruit stall the past few nights, and I veritably reek of peaches.

Saw one of my crew to-day. He didn’t recognize me without my old uniform.

I miss the sea. Yesterday I accidentally dunked my head in a horse trough, and then I was too depressed to pull it back out again. A constable was kind enough to kick me.

I find myself crying a lot at night. More often than the old days, I mean.

Origins of the Cutthroat Project

March 6th, 2006 by Steven

I’ve uploaded the final version of the Stratego clone I built in Java as a term project at WOU. This was the precursor to the idea for Cutthroat.

(Note: this is a beta application, and many basic game functions are either missing or accessible only via the debug menu built in to the UI. This is not a fully-functional game.)

The file below is the preliminary (informal) design document for the project. It outlines the goals and scope of the project, as well as the planned feature set and gameplay modes.

February the Twenty-Second, 1215 A.D.

February 22nd, 2006 by Captain Nereus

An Ship to Call Me Very Own…

…is that so much to ask?

The date is February the twenty-second, and still I remain, landlocked and sequestered in this hovel of a tavern. My ship has sunk, my crew has left me and the bills are beginning to pile up. I miss the old days.
